What is a restricted substance list?
Good chemicals are a necessary part of the process. Bad chemicals don’t have to be.
prAna provides bluesign? with a list of chemicals we do not want in our products and the fabrics we purchase. bluesign? then manages that list and ensures the chemicals we do use are managed correctly.
Is your clothing's performance impacted by chemical management?
For prAna and bluesign?, better chemistry is a combination of style and performance, minus the impact. So the short answer, no. We’re able to achieve the essential performance and quality we intended, without the chemical impact.
One of the ways bluesign? does this is by managing the chemical input further upstream to create a holistic system that prevents contamination. By working to improve and monitor the entire supply chain, bluesign? can help brands improve their environmental impact and provide the performance and style desired with better chemistry.
Do you use Azo dyes in your products?
Azo dyes and heavy metals are banned internationally so our products do not have them.
Do your products have formaldehyde?
Because we have adopted a very strict Restricted Substance list, that all of our suppliers must adhere to and that we ensure accountability to by conducting through testing, we have a VERY LOW acceptable rate for formaldehyde because it is usually a residual effect.

The Sustainability Movement is everyone’s responsibility. Every single prAna employee is expected to strive for more responsible and eco-conscious practices, whether they are managing chemical inputs or eliminating single-use plastics from their everyday.
You can help: next time you think about purchasing a product, look for a bluesign?-approved product to help positively influence the chemical impact of our clothing.
